Why This Matters Now
The world children are growing up in is not the one we grew up in.
Today's children are not growing up like we did. They're exposed to more — more screens, more content, more opinions, more speed — earlier than any generation before them. Their attention moves differently. Their sense of "learning" is shaped as much by what they scroll through as by what they're taught in class.
In this environment, being a well-behaved, obedient child is no longer enough. Children need to be able to think for themselves — to question, to test ideas, to form their own direction rather than simply accept what's placed in front of them.
This matters more, not less, as artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday life. A child who can only follow instructions will struggle in a world where machines can follow instructions too. What will matter is a child's ability to think independently, ask their own questions, and test their own ideas — before relying on any answer, human or AI.
In an AI world, the most valuable thing a child can build first isn't a skill — it's their own direction of thinking.
